Geilston Garden

The weather was what's known in the area as 'dreich' when we visited Geilston Garden in Argyll.

We don't let things like that put us off having a good look round.

There's a garden at Lindisfarne, created by Gertrude Jekyll,  at the castle on Lindisfarne.

There are loads of sweet peas.

Some of which were used to decorate the castle.

And plenty of cosmos, herbs and other flowers.

Interesting 'rock features' on the beach too.

Sissinghurst in summer

We've been to Sissinghurst a couple of times before, but this was our first visit at the height of summer.
It's fabulous - easy to see why it's so popular.

Easy too, when it's busy, to tell that this is a garden designed for the enjoyment of its owners and not as a tourist attraction.

Don't let that put you off though. You won't mind having to walk round quite slowly as there's something interesting to see at every step.
